Rewind: Today’s rewind is taking us back to 2005. The R&B group Pretty Ricky dropped their hit debut single “Grind With Me” that would soon hit #7 on the Billboard charts. The boys had no idea that this song would become one of the most requested songs in Miami. They went on to release two albums before Pleasure P went solo. Does this track bring back any memories of summer?
Rewind: This week’s rewind is brought to you by Ghost Town DJ’s.; After listening to Ciara’s “Body Party” I felt my mind travel back to the 90s and I had to hear the original. The song was dropped the summer of 1996 on So So So Def’s label.
Rewind: In the spirit of Omarion’s new project here’s a little stroll down good ol’ memory lane back when B2K was functional and we thought they all had promising careers. “Bump Bump Bump” was definitely one of their greater days. This group taught teenage girls what pandemonium was before they even knew how to spell it.
Today’s Rewind comes to you from Jon B. “They Don’t Know” was dropped in 1998. This was his biggest song and it sold over a million copies. The track was recently replayed on Kirko Bangz latest hit “Keep it Trill”. Do you remember this track? What’s your favorite Jon B track?
Rewind: I’ve been time traveling lately and I have to agree that music was way better in the 90s. I’ve created a playlist for my favorites and this was at the very top. Remember City High, “What Would You Do”? I remember winning a CD at my local library’s after school program. What was your favorite City High song?
Rewind: Today’s rewind video is singer/writer Christina Milian’s very first single “AM to PM” which was dropped September 2001, lifted from her self-titled debut album. Christina Milian has come a long way.
Rewind: Today’s flashback is brought to you by Mario “Braid My Hair”. He’s come a long way from “Just a Friend”. Currently Mario is working on his next project.
Rewind: Today’s rewind has been stuck in my head for quite some time. It takes me back to my lovely house party days in my Pappy’s basement. 2003 seemed like so long ago, rap had a little variety and no one knew who Soulja Boy was yet. “This is My Party” was a banger straight off of Fab’s “Street Dreams” album. Does this song bring any memories your way?
Rewind: Today’s music rewind is brought to you by Kurpt and Natina Reed. This weekend 32 year old Reed was hit by a car in Atlanta and pronounced dead. The driver is not being charged because the incident is currently being handled as an accident. Reed was walking along a dark highway when a driver hit her. Police are not clear to why she was out there and are still piecing together the accident. Natina was 1/3 of the popular 90s group Blaque and leaves a 10 year old son behind from a previous relationship with rapper Kurupt. Natina passed away a few days before her birthday and will forever be remembered as the protege of TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Many people tweeted their condolences and RIP Natina trended on Twitter as soon as the news hit.
Rewind: Today’s music rewind is from 3LW. Remember the three little women before they replaced Naturi Naughton? I caught myself singing this song lately and I knew it would be a great flashback video. Remember getting your girls together and pretending to be them? Oh memory lane! What was your favorite 3LW track?
Rewind: Today’s video rewind is brought to you by the oh so popular B5. They emerged around the B2K era & earned a spot on the charts with their remake of “All I Do”. Now a days these boys are still making music and all grown up I must say. I’m excited to hear new music from them. Are you still checkin’ for B5?
Rewind: Today’s rewind video comes to you from Immature. The group dropped their debut album “On Our Worst Behavior” in 1992. Five albums, a replacement (“Half Pint” left the group after the first album), a few House Parties, and a name change later the group disbanded in 2002. Marques Houston went on to focus on his acting and solo career, Rome (also known as Young Rome) went to focus on his music, LDB focused on music production. Word is he is happily married to someone that used to be a fan of his music. Watching this video kind of makes you feel like 1992 was eons ago. Does this bring back any memories? You have a favorite Immature song?
Rewind: Before actor/rapper Nick Cannon was taking over America’s Talent, he was taking over Nickelodeon with his self titled show about him taking over things. Nick also dabbled at rap. Today’s rewind is brought to you by Nick Cannon, Lil’Romeo & 3LW. The song “Parents Don’t Understand” was a collaboration between the three artists and was lifted from the Jimmy Neutron Soundtrack. It was a hit mainly because it was a cover of the 1988 Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff song. You would have never guessed that they would all have something in common. Anyone remember this Nickelodeon song?
Rewind: “I Can’t Stand the Rain” was a 1997 hit for Missy Elliot. It was definitely raining money her way after this jam. Does this track bring back any memories from the 90s?
